I have three of these titles:

    Monte Cassino
    The Battle of Britain,
    The Desert War

They are all undoubtedly excellent publications, but I think that the order I have listed them is probably the order of quality, not because there's anything wrong with any of them, but simply because the more these books are geographically and temporally focused, the better they seem to be. There's some excellent stuff in the Desert War book, but what they've gained in breadth they've (almost inevitably) lost in depth, and - frankly - there are an awful lot of good publications available on this campaign already. In terms of pure reference, the Battle of Britain book has some fantastic lists and compendia of statistics - it's also a behemoth of a tome.

Went to Cardiff last week and revisited Troutmark books secondhand bookshop, that on last visit many years ago offered little in the way of Military related books....I'm pleased to say that its improved vastly two walls of books that meet the criteria, and among which I found Blitz then and now vols 1, 2 and 3 in very nice condition £20 each got a fiver off the nice lady on the till, £55 In total thank you very much.... looking online looks a nice saving on vols 1&2 at least, I had been after these for a while so kind of them to all be together in one place!

Could anybody who has/has read it, possibly post an appraisal of the Bases of Bomber Command book? I'm considering buying it, but can't find any substantial reviews.

(A few pictures would be great--there are so few previews of this series online)

I was just looking at that.
    Rather promising, I thought.

A comprehensive list and pen pictures of Bomber Command airfields indexed by Groups.....one omission I note was that Winthorpe, now the Nottinghamshire Show Ground,an important HCU base has not been covered for some unknown reason.

Otherwise an excellent account of B.C.airfields by the late Roger A Freeman.

The Airfield Research Group are also a valuable source of airfield information....well covered through their quarterly Airfield Review.....available to members.

I bought it as a birthday present to myself. As good as their previous publications.

A brief outline of the invasion, occupation and liberation of each country in chronological order with one or two significant incidents for each country examined in their usual minute detail. Heydrich's assasination, Oradour, Katyn that sort of thing.

    Highly recommended.
