I should be able to replace the damaged images I posted previously. Although you've probably sent them to Jewish War Graves, if anyone is seeking an image from this site, they should be able to get one.
This is for Ron really. As you may know, my interest is the 9th Battalion, Royal Sussex Rgt 1939-1940. The men originally called up into this Btn. came from both Sussex, and the South East, including London. Naturally, this included a number of Jewish men, and of course, they were amongst the casualties. I have been attempting to obtain photos of headstones of all of these but it is a slow job. I have a complete Roll of Honour and some can be identified as Jewish by their names, but there are probably others where it is not so clear. So I have some names but no photos. I know I could ask one of our members here who specialises in photographing war graves but, he is reluctant to supply them to me as I intended to put them on a FaceBook Page which he does not think is appropriate. That is his decision, which I respect. However, I am wondering if your contacts at the Jewish Museum might find a request to him produces a more favorable response. After all they would be using in a highly professional manner on a proper website. Just a thought! Sylvia
Ron, Forgot to say, many of these casualties have memorial stones in Taukkyan, not Europe, as the 9th fought in Burma S
Sylvia Many thanks for the added info. Might I make a suggestion ? Rather than involving AJEX in your wish to publish these photos elsewhere, provide your friend with a link to this thread. AJEX Headstones That way, he or she will see that this is a genuine operation which has my complete support and I reiterate my utter gratitude to all those who have provided the many photographs you can see above. Best regards Ron
