July 26 1942 Lt.Col Valentine MBE assumed command of the 2nd Devons when Lt.Col R.F.B.Hill embarked to the UK (after arriving in the UK he assumed command of the 12th Battalion untill November 1943). He kept command although the rest of the Malta seige, through the sicily and Italian Landings and on their return to the UK untill March 12th when the Battalion were at Inverary, he then moved on to a staff appointment and Lt.Col C.A.R.Nevill OBE assumed command.

I see the above posts were quite a few years ago but if you have the 2nd Devons war diary for the 10-19 June I would be most grateful to see a copy.

Drew Hi - its been ages since this post but hopefully you will pickup. Do you have the 2nd Devons War Diary for the 8th June? I am researching their action at Le Mesnil and the Chateau that day
    Thanks Ian

As I get further into June 44 in my research into the 147th Field Regiment's actions the 1st Dorsets Diary for June would be useful too. Your Photobucket link from years ago disappears now too. Would it be possible to post that? Thanks Ian
