Dear Horsapassenger and Airborne medic. Thanks for your replies. Please note that I did not write the information on the marktplaats add. I am not the seller.
Bla,Bla Bla, like always ,if you have one why not post it! loads of comment on other people if they don't want to post!!! as it will PROBABLY be used. General send me a PM, I will get you in touch with someone who HAS one as I just asked him and will get a copy of him.
Hello John. He was awarded a MBE in the early 1950's. In 1958 the MBE was revoked when Capt.Bryson lost his commission due to a conviction.
General Exactly - after that date he was no longer entitled to wear this medal so why does it appear on the set of miniatures now being offered for sale John
This set was first sold in an uk action on the 11th of October. In this auction the MBE was removed from this set. (but the loose MBE was included). The Dutchmen that bought this set in the uk auction and resold it on marktplaats has loosely drapped the mbe on the set. (don't know how to express this in English)
Dear airborne medic You mentioned in an earlier post about a bloke in the film whose mother saw him In and was her first news of him, I believe that was my grandad lance corporal Fred J Budd, I have a still of the surgical team in Duitsekampweg but wondering if you or anyone else has any more pictures/info on this photo? Cheers rb
Ryan - nice to hear from you...Fred was a member of Major Rigby-Jones surgical team...They worked initially in the Duitsekampweg and then in de Tafelberg in Oosterbeek.....There are two RAMC books on Arnhem that you might try and get hold of as they sort of cover the actions of 181 fairly well (IMHO)....Red Berets and Red Crosses and Arnhem Surgeon... The photo/film is well known and was taken by one of the AFPU guys whilst 'touring around' on 18th September 1944......Was there anything particular you wanted to know?
