Dad was evacuated from Dunkirk and then to North Malaya, ending up as a POW under the Japanese. To keep his sanity he painted but many images we don't know who, what, where, why they were painted. The Highlander and the Pilot had a caption under it by dad 'the few', and I have no idea who the guy or what rank or service or country he is from with the monical: looks like navy. Who knows, someone might recognize them and be able to give a fuller background. . Thanks for you help Keith
The highlander one almost looks like a Seaforth Highlander of canada. I have my grandfathers glengarry at home in my room. And yes...the guy with the monical is a navy officer, I can't remember what the ranks are but I'll ask some friends and see what I can find out for you
GeeDubay while the Highlander LOOKS like a Seaforth Highlander of Canada - it should be recalled that they are in fact derived from the Seaforths of Scotland.....plus the fact that this picture is of a 2nd Lt. in the GORDON HIGHLANDERS - according to his shoulder title - who have a similar cap badge.... Cheers
I have asked a friend of mine who is in the military and knows a lot of Canadian stuff, the cap badge is Royal Navy or Canadian navy with the kings crown making it pre-1953. The double laurels on the cap indicate a senior or flag officer and his shoulder boards indicate a commodore rank.
