I cannot recommend Drew's service enough, he manage to obtain everything I asked for in a super quick time and at a very reasonable price. I would not hesitate in using him again and again.

    Many thanks Dave.

Just to make everyone aware I'm going back to Kew this Saturday to copy some Microfilm files and 4 other war diaries I missed on this trip.

If anyone else wants to add an order to this trip drop me a PM with your requirements.

Many thanks again for your orders.

    Regards
    Andy

Due to a predicted house move next month (fingers crossed) tomorrow maybe my last visit to Kew until July and I've got room for a few more files should anyone have anything they are considering ordering.

    Cheers

What went wrong Andy ? It must be pretty bad to make a chap alter his forum signature !

Andy and Andrea had some bad luck looking for some 202 Squadron stuff for me, a valiant effort but largely frustrating for them , thank you for giving it a go.

Perhaps now is not the time, as I see that you have had a shit day at Kew! but could you let me know what copying two pages from file AVIA 22/2288A would cost. The pages are a statement of facts about the carriage of diamonds, heavy water and machine tools etc on the BROOMPARK. The document was prepared by the Earl of Suffolk etc. I have the French version, but my camera must have packed up before I captured the English version. The French version is numbered 131A in the top right hand corner, and I think that the English version is filed immediately before or after that. Page one is initialled by the six parties and page two is signed by them.

    Hello Drew

I don't know if you'd be willing to copy an RAF Maintenance Unit's ORB(war diary).I made a topic about my grandpa's old unit here on ww2 talk about 2 years ago

The unit I'd like to read up on was 162 MU which existed from 1943-5/6

I'm unsure of the length of the records book.I have an incomplete old copy of 102MU's and that ran into a about a dozen A3 sheets or so.Given that 162MU formed late in the war in 1943 for NW Africa,it might be shorter than a long lasting unit

    The old topic is here

    Thanks in advance

Jonathan Ball It's a way of life.

I received my disc today. A slightly different order than most as it is the diary of 1/Lancashire Fusiliers from March 1916 - February 1919 and contains 760 pages of diaries, orders, maps, diagrams, plans, trench raid reports etc etc and all in lovely high definition and colour. Excellent.

    Cheers Andy.

Andy: I am trying to find any information in the National Archives on my father, James Sprott Donaldson. I am aware that his MI9 files (as a returned POW) are somewhere in the Archives. My father enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps as a boy soldier in about 1935, then moved to the Highland Light Infantry. When he was captured in North Africa in 1942, he was serving with the Indian Provost Corps. He was sent to a prison camp in Italy. After escaping from Italy in 1943, he returned to the UK and re-enlisted in the Parchute Regiment, where he served in the first and ninth Battalions. Can you e-mail me at Ranald_Donaldson (at) shaw.ca to further explore this request. Thank you. Ranald Donaldson

  20. Hi,

Just wondered where you're able to look-up other records at TNA, or just War Diaries/ documents relating to war? I ask as I'm currently researching someone who was a merchant seaman and in the future I believe there may be some doucments I need looking up.

    Thanks,
    Elissa
