Hmm - not sure about this but

The link for his civil death registration is associated to the Grave index, so he may have been injured in Europe, hospitalised and then eventually died in Tonbridge then transported to Llandudno

England & Wales, Civil Registration Death Index, 1916-2007
    Name: Richard H Richards
    Death Age: 40
    Birth Date: abt 1905
    Registration Date: Mar 1945
    Registration district: Tonbridge
    Inferred County: Kent
    Volume: 2a
    Page: 1409

Obviously a copy of the certificate would explain what he died from

The name, date of birth and date of death all seem to fit BUT ....................................
