A completely different kettle of fish twixt old army Glasgow office back then and TNA's differing rules, and different interpretations of acts since passed (the blessed FOI iron curtain!) than today KLF.

Unfortunately, as you know only too well, not all change is change for the better.

    Kind regards , always,

    Jim.

    just received this from MOD

Your MoD Service Personnel Record Request
    Dear Requester,

Thank you for your patience with your Freedom of Information request relating to a Ministry of Defence Service Personnel record.

We apologise that we have not yet been able to provide you with the information which you have requested. This department is currently handling an exceptionally high volume of cases, which has led to some delays in the service. This means that it has taken us longer than usual to respond to your request.

In light of the recent announcement of the implementation of fees for this service, which will come into effect on 2 February 2026, please be assured that you will not be charged for your current request.

You are not required to resubmit your request as your case remains active in our system and will be resolved as soon as possible.

We are continually improving our processes to ensure that all requests are resolved as quickly as possible. This includes offering a refined subset of documents, which include information of most interest to family members and can be delivered within a much shorter timeframe. If you are eligible, we will be in touch in the coming weeks to offer you this refined service.

Any future requests that you wish to make to our service following 2 February 2026 will incur a fee. To avoid the potential for being charged for a duplicate of your outstanding request, we kindly ask that you please do not resubmit your request.

Wont be charged for my current request but will have to when they decide that I have to wait till 2028 and ask again for his medical records 51 years after his death.

Applied for med records when Ross first posted May 2024. Received numerous updates informing me I am in the queue over the past 18 months.
Received offer today for service records minus my other request within 25 days I declined

How Do I Indicate My Decision?

Please indicate your decision by replying to this email with one of the following responses within five working days.

YES - I would like to take the refined offering (processing time 25 working days)

NO - I would like to remain in the queue for the full releasable records

WITHDRAW MY REQUEST - I no longer want my request to be processed, and I would like my request removed from the queue

If we do not hear from you within five working days, we will keep your existing request within the queue.
