Not WW2 I know, but I thought members might like to see this video. Rather shocking really.

When I see "modern" warfare it always stikes me as being less even tacticaly. Where as in WW2 even if you got yourself into a faily bad situation you might still recover. But I dont know if its true but in modern conflicts, once the rapier is on the tail of the Skyhawk its over, theres nothing that can be done to save it. Its impossable to hide 12K tons of hot warship in a cold sea, some are going to be lost, fact.

    Peter,

    I love your poem Sig.

I used to work in Preston and have to ride through RAF Burtonwood around 5.00am, every morning. One day it was the real strange fog thats about 6 ft deep. The road is elevated and clear but the airfiled (long derlict) covered, I could see all the tops of the hangers and I guess the solitude and unearlthy stillness, with just the bike buzzing away underneath me was a bit spooky. It would have been a perfect moment to hear the ghost of a B17 radial start up that never came home, or get buzzed my a P51 that went MIA in 1943.

Alas nothing happened, I wish it would have, it was real strange moment.

Chatting to one of my managers at work the other week, I had to remind him that 25 years ago he was on his way to the South Atlantic .
He'd forgotten the date. He was on HMS Plymouth.

The power of film, it does give the impression that the Falklands are under the Argentinean flag.

Just looking at that and how the media coverage of war has changed over 25 years
