Below is taken directly from the announcement on the IFCP Forum

IFCP's main objective is to obtain official commemoration by CWGC of all 'non-com' Commonwealth service personnel who died during the two world wars. However, one of our subsidiary activities is also to ensure that all post 1947 UK servicemen/women are also granted their due commemoration on the Armed Forces Memorial and/or in the three Rolls of Honour maintained by the UK forces (see below names).

AFM has just updated its database not only with the recent names sadly necessary but also with names previously omitted for various reasons. As these men have now been brought 'in from the cold', it seems only fitting to list them here.

Four of the names were due to submissions by IFCP following research undertaken by Chris Harley and myself. These men are marked below by an asterisk.

MOD will be sorting the most recent of casualties. IFCP tends to get involved in some of the very older cases

    Hi Tom,

I worked with a lot of Maltese in Australia with that name. Melbourne was a huge Maltese city post war and still is today.

Azzopardi is a Jewish surname. It means a Jew coming from Spain. A Safardi. Most of the Azzopardi families in Malta originated in Toledano Spain, and those that did not leave Malta, after the 1492 expulsion of Jews Edict, converted to Christianity.A few of these families are known to have practised Judaism in secret, but they eventualy converted fully to Catholicism.

    Spidge -
Thank you for that information on the Azzopardi's - very interesting as Mike was a real character as all the girls in the Naafi at Streatlam camp knew him .... ! Got the shock of my life when I nearly fell over his headstone at Coriano Ridge - until then I didn't realise that he was married...! Took a picture of his grave while looking for my Troop and Tank Commanders...that was a sad day.....2000 graves
    Cheers
