    Hi,

I am looking for any information about army camps in Market Levington near Devizes, Wiltshire.

A relative of mine JOHN QUICK died aged 32years old in 1950. He was knocked off his bike and died of his injuries 2 - 3 weeks later.

His occupation was a Night Watchman at an army camp?

    Can anyone help me please.

    Regards,
    Pauline.

    Hi Nick and Minden,

Thank you for the help in regard of army camps near Market Lavington.

    A couple of questions

    1. Is there any way I can find out which camp John Quick was stationed?

    2. With John Quick having an occupation as a Night Watchman - would he be classed as working for the army? Or would he be in a civilian capacity?

Thank you again for any help.

    Regards,
    Pauline.

The current Death Certificate has Occupation and Usual Address. Would his 1950 Death Cert. have that information too? Reading your posts it is not clear if you have that document.

If he was a civilian Night Watchman he would be a War Office employee; the War Office being the predecessor to the Ministry of Defence (MoD). See: War Office - Wikipedia

Wiki indicates the town has a museum, could they help? See: Market Lavington - Wikipedia have you found their website: Market Lavington Museum ? Just spotted Pauline's post there.
