I've just been helping out another Chindit family in researching their soldier who served with the 1st Lancashire Fusiliers in Burma in 1944 as part of an Army Catering Corps attachment. When I stumbled across an entry for him in the personnel returns in the appropriate war diary, I could not believe the names of some of his fellow Cooks:

    Pte. Cutts
    Sgt. Shoulder and
    Sgt. Longcake

There was a L/Cpl. Butcher on the page, but thankfully he was from the Royal Engineers.

Thanks for the reminder Diane, I'd forgotten all about that thread.
