I was on active duty from 1972-1977 and then with various national guard units until I retired in 1999. My father in law landed with the 4th ID on D Day and I'll be looking for information related to his service. On my first active duty assignment I worked for "an old Colonel" (sure seemed old to me at the time), anyway he had been with the 101st Airborne and much of his experience tracked the stories told in The Band of Brothers production. I hope to find information about him as well. And lastly, what initiated my joining now and wanting to so some research is that I recently acquired a S&W handgun that had been presented to a Captain from his Battery back in 1937. He had later gone on to command the 980th FA Battalion during the European campaign. I'm trying to recover as much information about him as can be found. Turns out he served in WWI and Korea and is buried in Arlington Cemetery. I'm looking forward to reading many posts here and will probably be asking for suggestions and directions. Thanks much. hello Jeff welcome you best way forward is to join our sister site which deal more with the American part in WW2 http://ww2f.com/ regards Clive
Thanks for the suggestion. I have joined ww2f but I can't get the site to work; can't post threads or even view attachments to existing threads. Will keep trying. . . .
Thanks, I've tried but find no way to contact the admin team. Although did just see an e mail ID () which may work and I'm going to try now. Thanks again.
