Just a few lines about Arnhem in the Scinscow book....I don't have a copy but there is also the book by the padre of the 10th Raymond Bowers.....called On the Move.....
came out in 1989, so I suspect may either be loads of copies around or none!

Have you got Gunners at Arnhem? I was luck enough to be on a Battlefield tour of Arnhem last year with Peter (Sam to his friends) Wilkinson the author who was a GPO with F Troop 1st A/L Regt RA. Having someone who was there show you his actual gun position is amazing and definately better than reading about it.

    Phil,
I know Peter and I've got 7 signed copies of his book for sale......also on my last tour of Arnhem in 2007 I managed to talk one of the oosterbeek airborne mafia (who konwws a lot about the Light Regiment) to be a guest speaker at the church to give me a rest and he took us to the site of the GPO CP by the footpath....not quite as good as having Peter there but his piste de resistance was to produce the 42 and Command Post wooden sign that had stood outside the CP in 1944....I think somewhere I have a photo of it.....

    ABM,
Do you know if Bowers' book is specifically about his time with the 10th, if it is I'll be ordering a copy ASAP as I've just found a couple.

    Hi Paul,

One to add to your collection is Hilf Siegen als Luftnachrichenhelferin this was only printed for The Cloggers which I travel to Arnhem with in Sept. The copy was given to me by a Veteran of The 6th Airborne Div. Its the story of the German Radar installations in the Arnhem area..

    Cheers

    Hi TomTAS.

Thanks for those mate. I have been keeping an eye on Scott's book via your website. Would you do me a favour and let me know when it's published? As for the other one, that sounds as if it could be a hard one to trace but hey "in for a penny etc etc" :)
    Al the best..............

Impressive! I was looking through my collection and realize I dont have a non fiction on OMG at all. If you could pick only a few, which would they be?

I like first hand accounts - I also like paperbacks because they are easy to hold and drag around places when reading them. If it is NOT a first hand account I like lots of pictures and maps. lol

    Viper,

For a first hand account in paperback that ought to be easily available as a starter for 10 I'd suggest Arnhem Spearhead by James Sim...he was a member of the 2nd Btn and fought at the bridge.....

    Hello Viper,
Another first hand account which shouldn't be hard to find in paperback as I believe it's still in print is "Men At Arnhem" by Geoffrey Powell. He was a Major in 156 Battalion and his book is rightly regarded as one of the best accounts of the battle. His unit never reached the bridge area but the story of the Battalions struggle in and around Oosterbeek is extremely good.
    Happy hunting :)
