Calling Arnhem experts - can anyone tell me if 'Six Amis Viendront ce Soir' by Gilbert Sadi Kirschen (alias 'Fabian KING', 5th Belgian SAS who organised much of the Pegasus escape routes under Op FABIAN) has ever been translated into English? I have a French copy but would like to read a version that I can get the full meaning of ...

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

There was a 1946 London publication by Nicholson & Watson

    Try Abebooks or bookfinder.com

Thanks for getting back to me - wondered if the Airborne Museum in Arnhem had republished a limited run of English editions. Will get on the 1946 versions. Cheers

The English version does come up for sale occasionally - it is certainly worth reading.

As regards Sadi Kirschen organising much of the Pegasus Escape routes he did send some of the first evaders back along the existing Windmill Route but as the number of evaders in the area increased he sent a message back that he was not a travel agent.

    Funny!
Was this mostly Pegasus I and II?

At a time in advance of both Pegasus 1 or 2 when combatants were being held North of the Rhine in anticipation of a crossing by XXX Corps still taking place. Non combatants (mainly RAMC and aircrew) were being sent back along the Windmill route. He was also being tasked to identify a suitable landing place so that Brigadiers Lathbury and Hackett could be taken out by plane. All this was in addition to the task that he and his team had originally been sent into Holland to undertake

The British Libary have an English copy; you could do an inter library loan from British Library or borrow directly from the British Library.

    One option.
