B-25 and Royal Netherlands Military Flying School, Jackson, MS ... Oct 31 1942

  1. Here are pics of my dad, Cornelis “Kees” Plesman at the Jackson Army Base, MS, as part of the Royal Netherlands Military Flying School. There were two photos taken and they are slightly different. No men in white lab coats in one of them! The Dutch were training their pilots here from 8 May 1942 to 15 Feb 1944 when the last group departed for Australia.

    The back of both pics have the notation:
    AAFFTD C.H. Lasalle, 1st Lt. A.C.
    Class 11-43

    AAFFTD = Army Air Forces Flying Training Detachment
    A.C. = Air Corps

    There is a barrage balloon in the background. The men in white lab coats are probably from North American Aviation and the man in the civilian suit is the head of the NAA detachment.

    My dad is in the light colored uniform on the right hand side of the pic. He was training the mechanics. If anyone knows more about these phots, please post here!
