Hello everybody, i'm planning a trip to Dunkirk and now i'm looking for a batllefield guide which can assist me during my visit. I've used the major Holts one for my last Ypres visit and thought it was great sadly they dont have a dunkirk version so i was wondering if you can recommend me another one. Thanks in advance!
The volume on Dunkirk in the 'Battleground Europe' series by Patrick Wilson is pretty good (ISBN 1-58097-046-X). Dunkirk was also covered in the large format softback book 'Battleground Europe' by Nigel Cave which launched the series but is now probably out of print (ISBN 1 871647 02 9). The Arras counterattack features in Richard Holmes' TV series 'War Walks' and accompanying BBC book(ISBN 0 563 38360 7), but a far more detailed coverage of this interesting engagement is given in his earlier 'Army Battlefield Guide: France and Belgium' (ISBN 0 11 772762 8).
