The Tank Museum have added an account of this little battle to their Tank Museum Tiger Collection blog. CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN COMET - The Tiger Collection
Hi all - new to the site. Thought you'd be interested in a citation my Grandfather received and his subsequent MM award. He was in the Cromwell that was taken out in the action in the post above.
Welcome Elliott, Did you attach your grandfather's citation? I don't see it, might be my browser version but I don't think so.
Hi - a few. Some are a little big in size so just trying to make them a little smaller. They're on twitter @acelliott79 if you want a look in the meantime.
Thanks Andrew. Found the Twitter photos. Nice medal group, especially the MM and the photo with Monty. Is your grandfather still alive?
No - he died in '93. My Nan just passed away and I've inherited a few of these pics - which I didn't know existed. There are more I'm lead to believe, so if I get hold of them, I'll post here.
Andrew Sorry to hear about your grandad but let's ensure his memory lives on via his photos and, of course, his medals. Incidentally, the photos appear typical of that time in being printed on Velox paper - always nice to be able to 'connect' with those distant times by holding photos 'that were there'. Steve
Andy Just seen it on Facebook. Sincere thanks for posting. Any idea as to those guys Regiment? The cap badges look vaguely RTR but difficult to make out.
Click on the Photobucket logo and copy image address. Paste that into your browser and you see the image
I've decided to bin the dreaded 'Photobucket' and gone elsewhere! Here are the two pics I posted earlier, they have been supplied courtesy of Adam Hermitage whose father Ed was in B Sqn 3RTR!:-
