Anyone ever seen a number like this one on a Bedford MW clearly somewhere in North Africa?

V770401 - V770810 was issued to Bedford contract V3904 and applied to 'Van 15cwt. 4x2 GS'.

I believe that the 'V' Van category was an older RASC classification.

The van was indeed an RASC category. Although the photo looks like a standard MW GS it actually has a body without hinged top sections and the tilt is permanently fitted, note the lack of the usual ropes and cleats. This makes it a van. At the time 15cwt GS did not have a tilt.
