Within Beirut City, and to the south-west of the Beirut Pine Forest Park, can be found 5 cemeteries: the main Beirut Muslim cemetery and 2 CWGC and 2 French (Military) cemeteries - refer to image 07 for map. The CWGC WW1 Cemetery ajoins a French military cemetery to the north of Jaloul (Hassan Khaled) Street, and directly across the street can be found the CWGC WW2 and remaining French military cemetery.

As I already had requests, via 2 families, for images from one of these cemeteries, I took the opportunity to record some additional images and videos whilst there.

Some history relating to both these cemeteries here: Dead Memory? (Post)Colonial Duress at the French Military Cemetery in Beirut
note: have read a number of articles and reports about them and 'advise caution' as errors tend to appear due to translations etc.

A video taken within each cemetery can be viewed here:

In view their wonderful hospitality during my visits to both CWGC WW1 and WW2 cemeteries, and for permitting me access/escorting me around each of these 2 French cemeteries - my 'Sincere Thanks' to all the CWGC staff concerned!

    LEST WE FORGET
