Did you see the staff car the type of which Rommel would have drove in. The owner wouldn't let anyone photo it!!! It was in the small tent next to the Jagdpanther.

I wondered what was in there, but never had the chance to check it out. My eyes were too drawn to the Jagdpanther!

That snow scene for Bastogne was realistic enough, you looked at it and couldn't take it in with the hot weather.

Very true - at times in the heat (it was worse on Wednesday and Thursday) I wished it was real snow and I could dive in for some relief!!

Was talking to the bloke who restored the Jagdpanther, he reckons that one side of it was blown out. They didn't have the parts, the German side couldn't help, so they had to draw up plans and fabricate replacement parts and took it to the tank testing ground at Pirbright. Smart job you can't tell which side it was. Did you see the staff car the type of which Rommel would have drove in. The owner wouldn't let anyone photo it!!! The Sdkfz foundation people were a lot more approachable this year, had been hard to track down previously, (arent they serious!), the Kfz21 was actually Rommels issue staff car in the desert, found by sheer chance.
It and the Jagdpanther's story can be found at:

(as for the heat! blimey, talk about 'Beltring-hot' did my usual 7 hour trawl of the stalls on friday, myself and a mate utterly disorientated by the end, missed out an aisle:eek: many orange lollies consumed.)

    Got any pics?

    Here ya go.

Ah the French jobbie. It was drawing casual observers due to it's sheer size.

I didn't know that was Rommel's issue staff car, if I had I would have snapped it from outside. There were photoboards in the tent - with Rommel should have gave the game away. It also has the original number plate. The car was restored by Audi - thinks. The engine is not the original one fitted to the car.

I go to the War and Peace show almost every year, as my dad knows some of the organisers and commentators. It's well worth a visit.
