Beret colours

    I can confirm that Recce Corps originally wore a Khaki/Sand coloured Beret but on amalgamation into the RAC in 1944 all had to convert to A RAC Black Berets.
    although it took some Corps many months to convert, hence the photo in the Osprey publication.

    SAS beret was and is Sand NOT Beige or TAN (the white being worn for just a short time)
    SBS wear Commando Green but during WW2 wore the Sand Beret
    Commandos wear Green but Royal Marines who are not commando trained (now confined to the Band Service wear the Blue Beret with Red Tombstone)
    RAMC wear either the blue GS beret or the beret of the unit to which they are attached but with the Dull Cherry backing (representing the VC or Blood).
