April 15th sees the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Belsen concentration camp - the day to remember, respect and ensure no holocaust could ever happen again. My grandfather was a commercial artist pre war and was served with the RA 113th Durham Light Infantry from 1940. The British knew they had discovered something that the world needed to know and my Grandfather was asked to produce a number of signs and graphics for a film crew to record. This famous sign was one of them. Redrawn and coloured from a poor quality, faded black and white photo. If anyone has a better quality photo - or a close up of my Reg’s monogram (a small artists palette on the top right of this sign) via any other photo of this sign or the German text equivalent, please get in touch.
In case anyone hasn't spotted it here is the item on the anniversary by the Beeb today 'Belsen showed me how low mankind can sink'
