If you enjoy turn based operational stuff, I'd recommend the SSG series of games. Battles in Normandy, Battles in Italy, Battlefront, Kharkov Strategic Studies Group - Makers of Award Winning Strategic Computer Games They take a bit of getting used to, but they deliver a hex based game with a lot of operational decisions attached, more so than your usual hex based chit shifters (like Panzer General, Commander: Europe at War or Time of Wrath). If you want a more fluid experience I can thoroughly recommend Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge, from Panther Games. You "macro manage" your units from higher up, and the games AI takes care of a lot of fiddly and time consuming micro management. It can play out like a more detailed Real Time Strategy game, only with the option of pausing the action and setting your orders. It is quite an expensive game though. Company of Heroes is also an excellent real time strategy experience, as well as the Men at War series.

Anybody tried these WW2 strategy games? No demos available that I can find so don't even know if they will work on a 64 bit latop...
