Morning Mr. J (Kyle) Absolutely brilliant, many thanks for your interest in the thread. I check Findagrave and Billiongraves regularly so am amazed I missed the image. Thanks again, Graeme
Graeme, Have you tried asking: West Midlands Police Military History Society the Chair is a WW1 historian and West Midlands Police have Tweeted something about memorials recently, probably under the auspices of their reborn https://www.wmpeelers.com/ Birmingham University did host a Centre for WW1 History, now it is: Centre for War Studies - University of Birmingham , but Gary Sheffield left for Wolverhampton and given his WW1 focus perhaps a place to check with: First World War research group - University of Wolverhampton
Hi David, Many thanks for replying. The work on the WMP RoH sites is mainly mine, having commenced researching in about 2004 whilst a serving officer. I produced a few copies of a book "What Gentlemen They Are" for the WMP Museum and have been in constant contact with the museum ever since updating my research (also that of WMP officers who have died and also Coventry Police (WW1 and 2). During my research I became aware that the graves of those killed in England were either non existent or in severe decay. The West Midlands Police Federation awarded me £9,000 to either renovate the headstones or, where there were none, to place one. Picture of one of the headstones I designed and commissioned attached My work has been updated by various societies over the years also. Thought it would be an achievement to complete the research with all the headstone images. Regards, Graeme
Finally! My contact over in Denmark has received a photo from one of his work colleagues who visited Esjberg last weekend, after their lockdown was lifted. I don't know if you can view it at full size. Let me know if you want me to email you the original photo I was sent. This one has been edited to remove a lot of the background. The photographer is called Peer Petersen. The site was completely renovated back in 2016, and the CWGC specified they wanted fuchsias planting all around the site.
You could always have tried getting the photo from TWGPP!!! Lol. Very reasonably priced, dont you know!
