Good evening My father's service record shows that he was with "No 15 Bomb Disposal Coy as Sec. Offr" in Halifax from 25th November 1940 to 5th February 1941 Can you confirm that Coy = Company ? Does "Sec. Offr" mean Section Officer? If not, what does it mean? What would his responsibilities have been - how many men would have been in his company? Who would have been his superior? I know nothing about the organisation/line of command etc. of the RE, can anyone suggest where I could find it on internet (I've already had a good look around, without much success). One last thought - I know that Ripon, which I believe to be a training centre, is not too far from Halifax - could this Bomb Disposal Coy have been a training unit? In this case, what would my Dad's role have been? Many thanks to all the experts for your comments and advice. Susan

Thanks for this help - the very amusing sketch cleared up quite a lot of RE mysteries. I've contacted the Officers' Club. The book looks interesting. Susan
Thanks for your suggestion. I might look at it later once I have more info about my father's role in BD. He was only there for 2 months and I suspect it might have been training for him. Susan
