    The map, which is free to use, is based on 6,500 daily reports compiled by wartime intelligence officers for the Ministry of Home Security and senior officials.

    It stretches as far back as 16 October 1939, the first wartime attack on British shores.

    This came just six weeks after Adolf Hitler's Nazi party triggered the devastating conflict by invading Poland.

    And the map shows all the bombs after that point – every single marker records the landing of a bomb, whether it exploded or not

    I'm looking forward to seeing this, once they've fixed the glitches. I learned on another site that Chorley had been bombed during the Blitz and wanted to see where they'd landed. My grandmother mentioned she joined up around this time due to the bombings, but I'd always thought she'd meant in Manchester or London.
