I have a reference in Bournemouth and the Second World War (M. A. Edgington 1994) that states that on 3 December 1942, a total of 5 HE bombs plus incendiary bombs were dropped on the airfield at Hurn. Can anyone help please with more details of the raid in which this happened? Thanks Dave
If you can get to Kew it might be recorded in the 2AA Group diaries, worth a look perhaps or in one of the lower Brigade diaries under them? ROYAL ARTILLERY: ANTI-AIRCRAFT GROUPS: 2 Anti-Aircraft Group, General (G). 2AA Group formed from 5th AA Division that covered South Coast / Solent areas WO 166/7301 1942 Oct.- Dec.
It might also be worth trying the following based on the 5th AA Division layout diagram below WO 166/7377 ROYAL ARTILLERY: ANTI-AIRCRAFT BRIGADES: Headquarters 11 Anti-Aircraft Brigade. 1942 Jan.- Dec. Graham
