    The Seaforths had a high number of casualties - they were probably in one of the trucks which caught fire (see the testimonies on my website bombedpowtrain.weebly.com):

    6 SEAFORTHS had had a tough time getting across the Garigliano on the night of 17-18 Jan 44 and a lot of men became PWs.

    These men were on the train at Allerona Bridge.

    Eighty years ago today the American Army Air Force bombed this bridge whilst a POW train was passing along it.
