Just back from a very quick weekend in Algeria - all requests completed at Bone Cemetery (Annaba). Off to Israel tomorrow to take photos at Ramleh and Khayat Beach so the Algerian ones will filter through after that. Can anyone who asked for them please PM me with their email address - the photos are high res so I'd better not clog the forum by uploading them on here.

I took a few extras of mainly the more unusual regiments or names, such as Spaniards serving with The Pioneer Corps, Int Corps, Royal Marines, etc and will list those names later in case the photos are of use to anyone.

    All the best

that G.C. ( army) is probably that of Major A.G. Kempster of 145th Regt RAC- who was killed on 21st August '43- when he threw himself on a dropped grenade during a practice session thus saving others from death or serious injury

Major Kempster was buried the following day with the full Regiment turned out....

    Cheers

Tom. Thanks very much for the extra detail - if I can work out how to attach images I will post photos of his grave and the sparse citation which appears in the cemetery register.
