    Nope! Sometimes nowhere near each other. IE Canadians at the top of the Falaise poicket. Ironsides pushing at the back

    cheers sapper,i asked because i know several british div,s were attached to canadian first army later on during i believe the move up on the rhine and other operations.yours,4th wilts.

    Eighth Brigade led in with the the East Yorks.
    My uncle was part of the 2nd East Yorks and died in this assault. Going over to Hermanville to see his grave next month - something my dad always meant to do, but never got there. Want to pay my respects to an uncle I never got to know, sadly.
    Am trying to find more info about him and his life & death - not an easy task, got to go dig out the old photos etc to help methinks.

    There is an east Yorks Association. I used to be in touch with the lady that helped run it. Very pleasant lady.I also subscribed some memoirs.
    8th Brigade that landed first was East Yorks South Lancs with 246 Fld Co RE.

    Hi Sapper me old mate. Your mention of the Div's move to Vire and the fresher air reminded me that it was not so for us. We moved into a field just vacated by some Yanks and they had left presents for us all around the edge, it was awful so we had to get digging to clear up the sh*t before we settled in. Then to rub our noses in it their airforce dive bombed us. Masters of friendly fire.
