I have been collecting militaria seriously since the mid-70s when I was a teenager. I have been shouted down more times than I can count by younger collectors of WW2 Airborne than I can count, telling me that I don't know what I am looking at. So, here we go. There was a surge of reproduction WW2 stuff in 1977 on the back of "A Bridge Too Far", because the production had a mountain of stuff remade for the film

Well, back to the case in point. I think the Pegasus IS genuine but post-war. The shoulder title is reproduction. The label is alarm bell ringingly pristine. Just my opiniion.

I don't think there is a problem with the label or jacket itself from what I can see - insignia is way too specialised a subject for me to comment on although I'd say definitely not originally applied

Thank you Staffsyeoman and AB64 for your informations

The wings are not there but there is some mark of them i think someone cut off because there are some sewing thread.

For me the jacket seem to be ok too. pegasus patch seems to be post war (that's what i'm thinking too) and for the rest i must unpick them to see the back i think?

Having blown up the picture of the label, I changed my mind. Label is good. But I retain view of the Pegasus and the shoulder titles.

Not sure about this. While the battle dress jacket (or was it called a ‘blouse’?) is undoubtedly kosher, my gut feeling is that it has been dolled up with badges which may or may not be kosher. For a start there seem to be too many and I don’t think the Pegasus and Airborne badges would have been worn on both arms. The Pegasus badge doesn’t look right. My father was in the Parachute Regiment during and after the war and I have the badge from his smock (see photo attached), which was a printed badge not embroidered. However, I suppose it is possible there was an embroidered badge for parade use. Expert needed….

I’ll take your word for it. A photo showing patches worn on both arms at the same time would clinch it! No sign of the ‘Airborne’ badge.

And they are not 'patchs' or even patches; they are badges.

Absolutely. Not sure where ‘patches’ came from!
