John Dallamore Hi Chris and Phil, Looking at the reports I have John and Herbert left and entered Switzerland at different places but then were both interned at Caux. So John was certainly alive in Switzerland but the Swiss have no record of him when I enquired at Bern

Commemoration Moved From Brookwood Memorial Chris Well done for finding another one.... a quick question, do the CWGC publicise when they are going to erect a new headstone? I only as as the churchyard is 'quite' close to me and I think it would be fitting to be there at any ceremony there might be. Regards Andy
Andy They dont normally publicize when they are going to put the headstone in but you can ask them directly. If there was going to be any ceremony that would have to be organised locally Chris
Hello, Whilst shooting graves in Harrow Cemetery for TWGPP in 2005, I discovered the grave of an RA Gunner who was wrongly commemorated on the Brookwood Memorial. In 2011 I organised a service at the Memorial to commemorate one of the two George Cross recipients, an unforgetable day and well attended. If you want the name of the RA Gunner, PM me. Interestingly some of the names on the Memorial should have gone on the Cassino Memorial in Italy.
John(Jack) Dallamore John known as Jack sadly passed away shortly after coming back to the UK He unfortunately contracted T.B in the camps. So sad that he survived Tobruk and the prisoner of war camps plus the crossing over the Alps to pass away within twelve months of getting home. He has a memorial in Brookwood Military Cemetery which at the moment is a mystery as it is for soldiers with no known graves DALLAMORE, John (, age 24). Died at 7 Edward St Gt Houghton; Buried on November 24, 1945 in Grave Number 686, Section A of Darfield Cemetery, Darfield. His family confirm he is buried in Darfield in the family grave along with his his mother Ruth and father George I never knew what to expect when I started the research with so much information from single piece of paper with the name Giovanni Dallamore written on it which the Italian family had kept since 1943. It also contained my fathers name as well. Which also included his address Many thanks to those on this section who helped me
