I have received via family channels a large batch of papers from my late cousin who died in 2006. He was in the Burma Police before WW2 broke out and was commissioned into 7th (Burma Police) Battalion, the Burma Regiment, ending as a major.
Post war he wrote a 32-page history of the battalion and I have offered a copy of his typescript to the Imperial War Museum. I am not aware that it has been published in any form but would be glad to know if any member of the forum is aware of this or any other history of the Battalion.
The history is in four parts:
    1. Formation
    2. Training for war
    3. War
    4. Amalgamation with 8th Bn., casualties, awards.

Some pages listed in the Contents are missing, but may turn up when more papers are sorted. These are listed as:
Photographs of presentation of awards; photograph of officers of the battalion; map of Burma and adjoining countries.

    Hi Daggers

Steve (bamboo43) is spot on, I am very interested in your news. Thank you for bringing it to the forum.

I have photographed what I believe is a copy of the same history you describe above. I found this copy at the National Army Museum. It has the same number of pages and identical chapters that you describe. I am sure the IWM would be delighted to receive a copy.

If you would like my photos of any missing pages, perhaps message me directly and I'll send you the images.

I am very interested also in the story of your late cousin, if you are happy to share his identity and story, either via the forum or through direct messaging.

I have written a history of the 7th Burma Rifles, using the history under discussion here and also the war diary held at Kew. It can be seen at: 7th Burma Rifles

    Thank you again

    Steve (Rothy)

    Hello Steve
My relative was Julian Daglish, and I would like to see copies of the pages missing from the version I hold.
I am not often on this forum and have forgotten how to send or receive a personal message. If you send me one with your email address I should be able to pick it up and reply directly.
