5 veterans attended. Also many families of service men who have died. Photographs were brought along. One veteran had been on Ramree Island, another in the Arakan, another could not speak, I missed one, and finally the last told me in no uncertain terms what a bl---y waste of time the Chindits were! I have read that one many times. I was able to give two ladies the address to send for their fathers service records. One was the daughter of a Cameronian With only one photograph with a very visible cap badge. She told me that her Dad went to Scotland underage, using false papers( his Dads) he joined the Cameronians He went to Burma. 25 years ago her Mother applied for his medals, only to receive the defence medal. Nothing more, just the one medal. Because he had used false papers. Strange stories pass through families. There must be more to this one.
All in all a wonderful afternoon.
    Veronica.
