Can anyone help me? Looking for info on my Grandad who was a Stoker during WW2

Hello everyone.

I'm Joe and thanks for accepting me to this forum.

My Dad is getting on a bit now and he's asked me to try and find some info about his Dad and the ships he was on as a Stoker during WW2, I have some pics of his dads service history with the ships/bases where he was stationed, we only have one picture of him and very little info because he died when my dad was only young so he doesn't know much about what he did during the war. Sorry about the handwriting in the pics, they are quite hard to read. Any info will be very appreciated and i look forward to learning more about what my Grandad did during the war. It may be a long shot but my dad is hoping to see maybe a picture of his dad in uniform or some pictures of the ships he served on.

This may get your list down a little;-
Royal Arthur was a shore establishment.
Drake too was a shore establishment Drake is now HMNB Devonport I think?
Sultan II also a shore establishment which was the accounting base at Singapore for sea-going tenders
LST 3509 was a tank landing ship ( HMS LST 3509 (LST 3509) of the Royal Navy - British Tank landing ship of the LST (Mk 3) class - Allied Warships of WWII - uboat.net )
Edinburgh Castle I think was a Navy Depot Ship in Sierra Leone.
HMS Philoctetes (F 134) was a destroyer/depot ship too (Allied Warships of WWII - Destroyer Depot Ship HMS Philoctetes - uboat.net)
HMS Eland, Cline Bay, Freetown was ashore base
The others Im not too good with handwriting so I wont guess but a good site to search given a lot of these are shore bases might be
