I would like to know more about this German Dog Tag.
    It appears to say:-

    1548
    1 Flak Ers Abt 6

    What does this mean?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andy

    Flak - Anti-aircraft
    Ersatz - Replacement
Abteilung - equivalent to a British A.A.Regiment. - In German artillery (and cavalry) units, several "Batterien" ("Schwadronen") form an "Abteilung" instead of the normal "Batallion".
So it is the Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 6.
The 1 in front of it means battery No. 1, normally written 1./Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 6.

    Hope this will help.

    Andy,
The German National Archives for war dead have a search system, unfortunately you cannot search a soldiers number.
