Forton, Lancashire. The memorial was originally located at a junction with the A6 (photo 1), but after being hit by a heavy vehicle it was moved into Forton village centre (photo 2).

The war memorials for Murton-cum-Hilton, Eden valley, Cumbria

Murton and Hilton are villages in the Eden valley of Cumbria (previously in Westmorland), a short distance to the east of Appleby-in-Westmorland. Together they form a civil parish and an ecclesiastical parish which is reflected by the parish war memorials.

Inside the parish church is a Boer War memorial for the son of a former Vicar of the parish and a WW1 'Roll of Honour' listing the men of the district serving in the Armed Forces at October 1916 (both difficult to photograph because of the light reflecting from them). The main parish war memorial is found in the nearby cemetery and is in the form of an obelisk. This lists the names of the men of the district who died in the two World Wars.

Derwent, Derbyshire. This splendid location is overlooking the reservoirs where the Dambusters practiced their tactics for the attacks on the great dams.

    Hi Clive,

I've never passed this memorial on all my travels around Greenford. Is this situated off The Broadway?
