    IWM War Memorial Project.

The IWM is listing all of the memorials in the country and would like contributors to send and /or update their register. The info and access link is below.

Old Register - War Memorials Online - Help us to record, conserve and remember our war memorials

NEW REGISTER: War Memorials Register - The IWM is compiling the War Memorials Register - the comprehensive national register of UK war memorials and the names of the individuals they commemorate. We currently hold records for over 74,000 memorials in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

War memorials form an important part of our cultural heritage and reflect the changing face of commemoration as well as artistic, social, local, family, military and international history. The Register includes memorials to members of the armed forces, civilians and animals from all wars and to those who died in service.

Thank you for your email and your interest in IWM's War Memorials Register.
We are pleased to acknowledge the receipt of your email. This is a busy time for the IWM War Memorials Register. We have recently launched the names database displaying the names of individuals commemorated on war memorials: http://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/search

We will be adding more names to the database over the First World War Centenary. At this time we are unable to answer individual enquiries related to a name listed on a memorial.

If you are interested in volunteering for the War Memorials Register thank you for your interest we will contact you shortly. We are only able to respond to enquiries related to the work of the War Memorials Register. You can find answers to many common questions on memorials through the UK Government War Memorials Portal:
    http://ukwarmemorials.org/

    Enquiries about War Memorials

    · Everything that we currently know about war memorials can be viewed online at http://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/search
    Sharing and uploading new information
    · We are working to update the database that holds information on more than 68,000 war memorials across the UK. There are many more across the UK that need to be found.
    · These changes will provide significant improvements to how you can find, share, upload and update information on war memorials.
    · If you wish to submit information, we will send you a recording form for you to complete and return to us.
    · We are working through a back log of records and will add new and updated information to our database as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.
    Searching for individuals
War Memorials Register is a significant and important data source for IWM’s Lives of the First World War.
    · All the names we have available on the memorials at present, and the names that the public will share with us in the future, will be made available through http://www.livesofthefirstworldwar.org over the Centenary period.
    Photographs of war memorials
We are working on making photographs of memorials available through the database. When ready, our new fully functional database will provide a set of criteria for uploading and storing images. If you have an image that meets this new criteria, we’d love to have them.
Reporting War Memorials at Risk or Applying for conservation funding:
    · Please contact the Conservation Officer at War Memorials Trust on 020 7233 7356 or visit www.warmemorials.org
    Thank you.

Was in Harrogate at the weekend for a singing convention and found this rather impressive memorial. I’ll need to resize the rest of the photos to upload them.
