Does anyone know where I might locate KMZ files for both, or either, WWI & WWII Canadian Battlefields? A few of us Veterans are looking at making a trip to Europe next year and want to chart our way in an efficient manner.
Dave, I can't help you with the KMZ files but if you search this website for the specific engagements you're interested in, there are some very detailed threads, with then and now photos, that will help you out. Such as, VERITABLE 1945: 3rd Canadian Division in Op Veritable
I don't know about KMZ files, but WW1 west front mapping is well covered ina variety of file formats. The Canadian official histories have decent tactical maps and good enough for a Canadian visitor with a general interest http://publications.gc.ca/collections/collection_2009/forces/DA3-4462E.pdf McMaster University has a good digital archive World War, 1914-1918, Maps and Aerial Photographs
Dave. I have a lot of stuff, with maps and can show exactly where the position in on the ground, of 2 Canadian Infantry Brigade’s brutal attack on the Hitler Line on 23 May 44, if that helps. Regards Frank
