(From Indian Army Historical Section Report on Force E - 1947)

Captain D.A.Trout MC 3/2 Punjabs led a reconnaissance patrol towards the Marada oasis, leaving on 9 January, when it was believed that this would be the next objective of E Force, and returning on 14 January. On 12 January 90th Light Division (under whose responsibility Marada rested) reported that 4 km east of Marada one captain and one man had been captured. It could conceivably (and very likely) have been Captain Trout, so I wonder what he got his MC for? Maybe evading his capturers? If anyone has further information on him, please share it.

    Many thanks!

Shouldn't it say 1942 in the thread title?

so I wonder what he got his MC for? Maybe evading his capturers?
Nope, for leadership & bravery in the Keren in March 1941.

Brilliant, many thanks Owen. You don't happen to have a picture of Lt.Col. Jenkins for good measure? Good to see the two were still on the same team in Operation CRUSADER.

Do you happen to know what became of Capt. Trout?

    All the best
