The history of the Carmarthenshire Home Guard Battalions, along with the relevant Territorial Army Association documents - usually held at County Archives.

    Hi Peter,
I have this conference menu from the Drill Hall,1944, my grandfather, Dr John Brittain worked at the Projectile Development Establishment, Aberporth, in the rockets and explosives department.
I have another of these for a dinner at the Webley Hotel, St Dogmaels, for the same year, i will scan it at the weekend and post it. I am not sure when my grandfather joined up. He was ammunition officer at HQ, Stanley House, Cardigan.
    Kind regards
    John

    Hi
There isn't a history of the 2nd Cardiganshire Bn HG at the Ceredigion Record Office. There is a picture book for the 1st (Aberystwyth) and a book for 3rd (Lampeter). I have copies of a few documents about 2nd Bn but they are patchy rather than comprehensive. I will look through them for you when I get a moment.

Unit histories were published in book form for both the 3rd and 5th Battalions.

ARPCDHG - there wasn't a 5th Battalion for the Cardiganshire HG. There was for Carmarthenshire - if your comment refers to them I would be interested in more details.

    Hi All,
I know that a group photograph of the 2nd Battalion Cardiganshire Home Guard was taken on the 27th of September 1944. If anyone has a copy, I would be most interested to see it.
    Many thanks
    John

2nd Lieutenant L W Jubb worked at the Projectile Development Establishment, Aberporth and had travelled to Jamaica to assist with the firing trials of the 3-inch UP rocket, early in 1939.
Lieutenant John Waterlow Sewill also worked at the Projectile Development Establishment, Aberporth and had travelled to Jamaica to assist with the firing trials of the 3-inch UP rocket, early in 1939.
His mother was a granddaughter of James Waterlow, the banknote and stamp printer and stationer.
