Hi, Drummer Richmond was likely a victim of the V1 attack on the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, London. Steve Y http://www.westendatwar.org.uk/page_id__151_path__0p2p.aspx
Just stumbled across the family grave of Guardsman Albert Hopton in Goole the other week. Date differs on plaque to CWGC. Grave in sad state of repair-I will try and get it fixed. Casualty Details Lesley
Lesley - please could you tell me the full name of the cemetery that this grave is situated in? Best, Skip
Thanks Lesley - I just wanted to check that this was the same Hopton that I was thinking of. As you say the dates are different but given the location of his family grave it must be the same man. He was killed whilst serving with the Long Range Desert Group. A shame that there doesn't appear to be any family member looking after the grave. Appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. All the best, Skip

Hello Georgina Ernest is actually on a memorial and has no known grave. "The Medjez-el-Bab Memorial commemorates almost 2,000 men of the British First Army who died during the operations in Algeria and Tunisia between 8 November 1942 and 19 February 1943, and those of the First and Eighth Armies who died in operations in the same areas between 20 February 1943 and 13 May 1943 and who have no known graves." If you are not successful with your request here contact Commonwealth War Graves Commission Contact form and request a photo of the panel from them. regards Clive
Hello Clive Thank you for your reply. I have sent an enquiry to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as you suggested. I did find Bill Weeks' account of Ernest's death. Kind regards Georgina
Sorry, coming rather late on this, but he was indeed one of the Guards' Chapel victims - one of the musicians to be killed. Jan Gore (author of Send More Shrouds)

Ref Verrieres post of 12 December 2009. Just stumbled on this quite by chance. 2657980 Gdsm David Blyth is my Dad. Photo taken betwixt 1937 - 1939. I'd be very interested to know where Verrieres got hold of a copy of this photograph. However,as it seems he is no longer a member,I don't expect to find out. Unless anyone knows differently...........!?
Thanks for the prompt Diane. Contacted Jim (Verrieres) and this is what he replied ;- Kyle freed from the Photobucket trap!
