Hi, Just a little snippet... may be of interest to some forum tank enthusiasts..... I was reading a Canadian service file online yesterday regarding the accidental death of 2 servicemen in a Stuart tank in Feb 1945. No need to go into the circumstances of the incident here other than to say a massive explosion killed the 2 servicemen and a Dutch civilian, injured 6 Dutch civilians and one Canadian serviceman and destroyed 4 Dutch houses and the Stuart Tank. Due to the circumstances a Court of Enquiry was convened. At the conclusion of the court there is a note that the cost of the destruction of the Stuart tank would be borne by public funds to the sum of £16,400 - over £667,000 in todays money. Steve Y
I guess the Stuart role might be filled by the Bradley in today's US Army. Wike says they cost $1.8 million, or about 1.38 million pounds.
