GRO War Death (RAF – All Ranks) 1939-1948 register Name: Mendham, Wilfred A Rank: Cpl No: 1352671 Unit: Shandur Year: 1942 Vol: 10 Page: 308 http://www.rafweb.org/Stations/Stations-S.htm#Shandur
They Spread Their Wings Interesting - Hurricanes at Shandur with 40mm cannons (with AP shells) - looks as though they had a few problems keeping the plane level as they fired them Doing a Google for "Shandur airbase 1942" throws up some good results Also used by SOE, 70 OTU were based there for a while ...................... TD edited to add: No. 6 Squadron (RAF) during the Second World War There is also another thread that includes Shandur in a small way - Hurricane pilot not known....Help!
