Also known as the Khadki War Cemetery (it adjoins with the Khadki Military Cantonment - deemed to be the richest in India with c10,000+ buildings), this cemetery can be found in the university town of Poona and consists of WW1 and WW2 graves along with the Kirkee Memorial. note; 24 images (resized) attached

    Images now available include:
    1. Images of all c1700 WW2 graves
    2. Images of the mass grave containing c630 WW1 casualties (reburied here from Bombay Sewri Christian Cemetery in 1962).
    3. Images of all c1800 names on the Kirkee Memorial (previously posted on this forum)
    4. Images of all c150 WW1 graves in St.Sepulchre Cemetery (previously posted on this forum)
    5. Images of all c115 WW1 graves in Caldescott Rd/Kirkee New Cemetery (previously posted on this forum)
    6. General images of the cemetery itself

    My video of cemetery here:

p.s. I did NOT have the opportunity to visit CWGC Deolali Cemetery (c170 graves), but now believe that access is possible once again.

My sincere THANKS to M.S.BAHANWAL (Manager) - and all his Staff - for both the knowledge 'shared' and assistance provided during my visits to all of these cemeteries....SALUD!
p.s. an additional THANKS for adopting a policy of maintaining/trimming all plants such that visitors are able to view and photograph the inscriptions at the bottom of all the headstones!

I am dedicating this post to all those African soldiers - of whatever nationality and creed - for the great sacrifices they made in support of Allied Forces during WW2...Salud!
In view of this dedication, I'm attaching 20 images - covering 18 African regiments - showing the graves of one soldier from each of those same regiments and an additional image of the grave of one UNKNOWN soldier. I am also including an image of the grave of a soldier from The Seychelles.

Equally: Given that there are 19 females interred here (3 more than CWGC Delhi and, thus, the largest number I've seen in any cemetery visited to-date) and in tribute to their service - I'm listing all names here - as follows:

Staff Serjeant WINIFRED MAUD MONRO - WAC (INDIA) - 31st March 1947 age 43

I should be grateful if you could send me an image of the grave of Private Albert George Watkins, 5628256, 1st Bn Devonshire Regiment, who died on 15 October 1944 age 29 in Plot 8.E.3. Kirkee War Cemetery. I am currently writing biographies for the Coigach Heritage Society, Scotland. This man was married to a local resident. I would, of course, acknowledge your name in any document produced. Many thanks. Clare Church
