In 2010 and 2016 myself and a few mates went over to Normandy to cycle the length of the D-day landing beaches. On both trips we started off via Pompey across to Cherborgh then cycled and camped across to Merville taking in as much as we could along the way. They were great rides and in 2016 one of our number (ten in all) hadn't ridden a bike since his paper round in 1986! So it can be done by anyone.

Please feel free to take a squint at our planning (oh, how we laughed) here:

I hope you don't mind me intruding on your thread but that's an excellent way of seeing the beaches etc. In fact, and I'm sure he won't mind me posting this, a 4/7 Royal Dragoon Guards veteran - 90+ years young - who landed in the first wave on Gold Beach on D Day is currently camping with tent and bike near Martragny as we speak. Good on you Cecil!

No problem at all. I can highly recommend cycle camping along the beaches as a damn nice and cheap way to see the sights. It could be done in a few days or as long as you like. So much history to see and visit.
