Does anyone have any contact with the De Havilland Museum near St Albans? I contacted their webmaster about 5 months ago with a query. He came back to me promptly to tell me he had passed my enquiry to one of their directors. Since then I have heard nothing despite further prompting.

Does anyone know how to make contact with them even if it is only to hear that they, perhaps, only give assistance to members?

Yes, Nicks, as my query was not about any of the matters dealt with by the individuals listed I contacted the web master asking for advice as to who I should contact. He told me that he had passed my query on the the relevant director of the Museum but I have had no further reply. My query was about an individual who was a de Havilland test pilot. Maybe the museum dont have information on staff but I was hoping that they could point me in the right direction.

No offence but museums are not necessarily there for you. Did you say in your query that you would be willing to pay?

Nicks - as far as I am aware and from what I can see the National Archives has papers relating to Government contacts with the De Havilland Company but not De Havilland archives. I am, however, hoping that someone can prove me wrong on this. One of my questions to the Museum would be who keeps the De Havilland archives.

Wowtank - surely not a touch of irony there?

Eventually managed to contact the De Havilland Museum. They were not helpful. They said that I would have to visit the Museum to find out if they had any information about ex employees. They added that I could submit my query through their Roll of Honour webpage. This is actually only for those who lost their lives flying Mosquitos which was not what I asked about. I am now pinning my hopes on a positive reply from the RAF Museum.

The person I am interested in is Norman Frederick Snelson (1922 - 1982). Norman Snelson
Commissioned 1943. Flew Spitfires and Typhoons.
I understand that after the war he worked as a test pilot for De Havillands. Later he worked for Mersey Docks in Liverpool.
My interest is in his time at De Havillands.

I have already been in contact with his relative and he has told me all he knows. I am enquiring on behalf of a number of his ex-colleagues at Mersey Docks and others who have in an interest in aviators from his home area.

Not surprised with what you said there. A friend of mine had some 'dealings' with the people who run this museum some time ago and they were not helpful at all without going into detail. In fact they were incredibly unprofessional.

I too am looking for a former De Havilland employee and I wonder if anyone here would be able to help?

I am looking for a David George Scott (or George David Scott) Engineer's Works Foreman in 1944 and am searching on behalf of his son. He knows nothing of his father and now retired himself would like to find out anything he can before it is too late.

Any help at all very much appreciated!

Hi, have you tried Facebook "Friends and Supporters of the de Havilland Museum group"? Although linked to museum I have found lot of info can be supplied by individuals within the group.
