The Lenham family were killed in Pembroke dock on 12th May 1941

Father Richard Owen , a corporal in The RAF 514334, commemorated on panel 55 at Runnymede

    Mother Edna Mary

    Son David Michael,

All at 4 Gwyther Street, Pembroke Dock

Now, all three have death certificates : June 1942 PEMBROKE 11a 1410

There's no trace of them having a burial in the area, but I've not come across bombing victims who's bodies have been lost having certificates like this, even a year later.

Anyone else come across a certificate situation like this ? I have found another " missing " bombing victim and his wife who had death certificates but they were dated within a month of their deaths under the quarter system

I don't want to splash out on 3 certificates without asking if anyone has knowledge of a similar situation and if the implication is that remains were found rather than deaths presumed?

The father was originally from the Wandsworth area, marrying his wife, nee Vinall in Portsmouth in 1938

Based on the fact that the airmens body was not recovered one assumes the same for the rest of the family
Possible they are just commemorated on the Memorial due to lack of bodies

The chap on there died in 2013. I did nothing on it as he seemed to be on it but that clearly not the case now. Pembrokeshire burial records are online now and I've cross checked loads of period burials. No sign off the Lenhams. There is another husband & wife killed in an air raid where their graves have recently been located . He is on runnymede 290 addenda panel though

I think it may come to it. It's just I've never come across it before and I thought I'd pick the font of knowledge that His this place before letting the moths out of my wallet

Reading the presumption link, it seems that incidents such as sinkings or plane crashes would be similar, certain people were known to be there but are no longer and no physical evidence to prove it. Is it possible the same happened here, a direct hit on Lenhams house, they were known to be in there but nothing found ??

The father Richard Owen Lenham and his wife Edna Mary Lenham (nee Vinall) and their 18 month son were all killed at 4 Gwyther Street. May 1941. Edna Mary Lenham's father travelled to Pembroke Dock but there were no identifiable bodies. He did identify clothing though that he confirmed as belonging to his daughter. They have no known grave. I know this as her father Arthur Vinall told me so in the early 1970s. He was the father of my Uncle (by marriage to my father's sister). My uncle was Edna Mary Lenham's younger brother who was a young boy at the time of the bombing.. He was living in Portsmouth.
