    I am confused at why this was even attempted. It's not like an airmobile operation where with temporary air superiority, a force can be inserted complete its objective then be extracted. Did the British tactical leaders just think the Germans would let the rankers just load back up and depart for England unmolested.

    Help me understand this mentality? I am of English descent but have never understood this Charge of the Light Brigade line of thinking.

    Re The Charge of the Light Brigade, I would suggest it was the right charge in the wrong direction.

    Thanks for the book title. I know the basics of Dieppe but not the indepth background of the Battle or it seems the mind set of the times when it comes to British or should I say English thinking.
